Here at BIG we love a new idea. Through our Investing in Ideas fund we want to see applications from projects that are for a completely new idea or enable new ways of working. Only projects that focus on either of these two areas will be successful.
More than half of all applications to Investing in Ideas have not been for a new idea and as a result have failed to secure funding. If you are applying for a project out with a new idea, Awards for All might be more suitable. You can contact our information team on 0300 123 7110 if you’re unsure where your project idea fits.
One project which recently received funding for their new idea was the Ullapool Community Trust Limited. The group received £10,000 to carry out research for establishing a wood fuel supply chain which would provide fuel to local households and businesses for use in wood burning heating systems. The grant allowed the consultants to carry out a wood fuel assessment of the area and to produce a business plan.
Investing in Ideas awards grants of between £500 and £10,000. Over the past year it has made grants in excess of £1 million. The average grant size has been £8,765. You can apply to Investing in Ideas here.
