Now the Big Lottery Fund is working in partnership with Creative Scotland to fund a small number of community based projects which are using the arts as a means to tackle anti-social and offending behaviour.
We want to support projects that improve partnerships between arts organisations and communities affected by crime. We want to fund projects that last between six months and two years and we will make awards up to £70,000, but we envisage making only a few awards at that level and the majority are likely to be for amounts less than this.
Big Lottery Fund Scotland Director, Jackie Killeen, said: “We are pleased to be working with Creative Scotland in funding this valuable Arts and Criminal Justice Action Plan. Supporting offenders to pursue a different path and learn new skills through the arts reflects our Life Transitions funding scheme which aims to support people at key times of change in their lives.”
The projects that are funded will be part of a wider Arts & Criminal Justice programme of work, which is being led by Creative Scotland to reduce reoffending in Scotland, and they will all be included in Creative Scotland’s external evaluation of this wider work.
Applications must come from arts organisation based in Scotland and must be delivered in partnership with existing community justice service providers and/or third sector organisations. For further details please go to
