Sense Scotland with Cheryl Fergison 250It’s time to vote!

Six Scotland based projects have reached the finals of this year’s National Lottery Awards and are now on the campaign trail to win the public vote.

The projects have been chosen from over 750 entries to go through to the finals and will battle it out with projects from across the UK to each win one of seven categories that represent a different area of National Lottery funding.

Winners in each category will attend the star-studded National Lottery Awards in September, shown on BBC One, and go home with a £2,000 cash prize.

The National Lottery Award finalists from Scotland are:

• Active East – competing for Best Sports Project

• Distance Befriending – competing for Best Voluntary/Charity Project

• Gorbals Recycles Project – competing for Best Environment Project

• The BFI Film Academy – competing for Best Education Project

• The Happy Lands – competing for Best Arts Project

• The Helix – competing for Best Environment Project

You can find out more about these projects and vote online.

TV star and actor John Barrowman will be presenting the National Lottery Awards for the fourth time this year. He recently spoke highly of the finalists, “Every year I am moved by the exceptional work that the finalists of the National Lottery Awards carry out. They typify everything that is right with society – the volunteering, community spirit and selflessness.”

Good luck to all of the finalists!
