Fancy a fun filled day out for all the family? Yes? Then we have the event for you. On Saturday 26th May 2018, The Big Walk, an idea from the Eden Project made possible with National Lottery funding, will arrive in Portobello for a community celebration.

As well as showcasing the fantastic work of many local organisations through lots of community stalls and activities, we’re also inviting you to join in and do the kinds of things that really vibrant communities do together – cleaning up
the beach together, singing together, playing games and having fun and eating together in our Big Beach Plastic-free Picnic.
The event, which takes place at Portobello Promenade between 10.30am and 2pm, promises to be a fun-filled event for everyone. If you’re interested, please sign up here so that we can keep you posted.
Also, if you’re a community organisation and would like to have a stall, please get in touch with Linda Gill at lgill@edenproject.com or on 07703189049.
So what is The Big Walk?
Well, it will see four walkers embarking from Morecambe on the 16th May on four routes across each of the four nations of the UK. As one of the four walking crews, Team Scotland will visit many community projects over the three week walk shining a light on those people and projects at the heart of communities. They will also walk up an appetite for The Big Lunch, and invite neighbours everywhere to get together in a national celebration of friendship, food and fun on 3 June.
If you’d like know more just follow the #TheBigWalk on twitter and sign up for your free community celebration pack at TheBigLunch.com.
