Community Led and Improving Lives will close on 30 September 2022

Thinking of applying to us to support community led activity or improve the lives of those in your community? Yes! Then it’s time to talk to us.

After seven years of awarding funding we are getting ready to close our Community Led and Improving Lives funds to applications on Friday 30 September 2022 as we prepare to launch new funding programmes in early 2023.

In this blog we answer some of the questions you may have if considering applying for this funding.

The Shettleston Community Garden project was awarded over £127k through our Community Led programme.

What programmes are closing?

We are closing Improving Lives and Community Led only. Our other funds – Young Start, National Lottery Awards for All and the Scottish Land Fund – will remain open to applications.

When is the last time I can submit an application for funding?

We will accept Community Led and Improving Lives applications up until 12pm on Friday 30 September.

I’m considering making a Community Led or Improving Lives application, what should I do?

If you are planning to apply but haven’t discussed this with us or requested an application form yet, you should contact us at: advicescotland@tnlcommunityfund.org.uk or 0300 123 7110 as soon as possible so the Funding Officer in your area can advise you.

We’ll have an informal chat with you about the idea you need funding for and can send you out an application form.

Is there a cut-off date for requesting an application form?

No, but we would advise you speak to us as early as possible to give yourself enough time to work on an application.

Will this affect my existing Community Led or Improving Lives grant?

The closure of these funds will not affect your current grant which will continue as normal. If, however you have a grant that is coming to an end before April 2023 that you wish to continue, please contact your Funding Officer, if you’ve not already done so.

I have just submitted an application, what does this mean for me?

If you have recently applied to either Community Led or Improving Lives your application will be assessed as normal.

Why are you closing these programmes?

We review our funding portfolio roughly every five years to ensure that our offer remains responsive to the needs and challenges facing local communities. We had intended to do this in 2020 but the pandemic meant we shifted our focus towards supporting stability in the third sector.

We are now developing new programmes that best meet the needs of the sector to support people and communities across Scotland to thrive.

Why do you need to close before you launch new programmes?

We want to ensure that our new funding offer meets the needs of Scottish communities for 2023 and beyond. We are taking this time to speak to and learn from our customers and stakeholders so that we can develop and launch a new funding offer that supports our customers to access and make best use of our National Lottery funding.

Who can I speak to if I need more advice or have other questions?

Our team is always happy to help either by phone on 0300 123 7110 or email advicescotland@tnlcommunityfund.org.uk.
