Tom Binns, Founder and Project Manager, Glasgow Piano City, said: “This lottery funding will support a range of activities: from our ‘ Pianos in Public Spaces ‘ and ongoing ‘ Lids Open Day ‘ series to our ‘ Piano Matchmaking ‘ where we find new homes for piano donations to the project. We will also have a strong piano presence at a number of events throughout the year including: the West End & Merchant City Festivals, Gartnavel Royal Hospital Carnival week and the BBC’s five-day Pop-up festival in June, ‘BBC Music at the Quay’ where we will have a number of pianos on site available for everyone to play freely.”
An Awards for All spokesperson, said: ““Today a range of Glasgow community groups share £234,774 of funding across the city. Glasgow Piano City is a great example of a project that brings communities together through the universal language of music and art. All of these grants show the variety of community projects that can be funded through Awards For All.”
