Through Growing Community Assets, Community Spaces and the Scottish Land Fund, BIG Scotland is supporting a huge range of ‘place based’ projects in both rural and urban areas. We really believe in the importance of these kind of projects, and in the power they have to address a wide range of community needs.
That’s why we are running two events to help share experience and learning about community ‘place’ projects as widely as possible. These “Developing Places and Spaces” events will take place in Glasgow and Inverness on 24 October and 6 November respectively. By bringing together a wide range of people, projects and experience, we hope that the events will prove both useful and inspirational whatever your experience level. Whether you just have the kernel of an idea for a community project, or are 10 years down the line already, we hope that you will come along to share your experience, and take something valuable from the day.
Alongside giving you the opportunity to hear from some great projects and find out about BIG funds, the day will also include workshops on the burning issues that you have told us are important. Come along on the day for sessions looking at:
- planning your project
- financial viability
- getting community support
- technical capital issues
- promoting your project…and more!
Although BIG will lead the events, we are inviting a range of support agencies to provide advice and assistance about developing, sustaining and improving assets in communities through the day. There will be time for you to talk to these organisations about their services, and also to speak to BIG staff about your project ideas.
Perhaps most importantly however, we hope the day will encourage discussion between experienced BIG grantholders, new grantholders, applicants and potential applicants to share valuable learning and experiences, and to help you make your project a success.
